Thank you to BOA chaperones/truck crew. The band placed 4th overall and 2nd in music – better than Kiski.

The show is still changing.

PIMBA on Saturday, Oct 12. Band will rehearse at 2:15 and then Alumni Association will feed them dinner. Performance is at 8:15pm, followed by awards at 8:45pm.

Friday, October 18 – Woodland Hills football game. Pep band will attend. The band will not wear uniforms. They will be allowed to visit the concession stand. This is Mr. B’s first time taking a pep band to the football game. Woodland Hills band will perform for entire halftime.

Uniforms just got cleaned. Thank you, uniform crew!

PIMBA championships are Oct 26th at Gateway. We are not attending the PIMBA competition on the 19th at Deer Lakes. We won’t know seeding for championships until closer to the 26th.

West Allegheny football game – it’s an away game and we will not unload trailers after the game.

The football team will probably make the playoffs and the band will travel to all playoff football games. The band will practice once a week for about 45 minutes.

October 23rd – Moon Park Halloween parade.

October 29th – Trunk or Treat at 7:30pm. Location TBD.

Symphonic band has started working on inside music. Concert band will start inside music next week.

Jazz band auditions will occur in December. No one is cut. All members will be put into appropriate group. Jazz band 1 practices Tuesdays from 2:15 – 4pm, and jazz band 2 practices Thursdays from 2:15 – 4pm. Concert will be in April.

Five students made PMEA Honors band:

  • Lauren Radeschi (1st chair – flute)
  • Alex Owczarzak (1st chair – bassoon)
  • Nick Patterson (1st alternate – saxophone)
  • Joe Palmer (8th chair – trumpet)
  • Luke Snyder (9th chair – percussion)

Concert is November 24th at North Hills high school. Concert is comprised of all District 1 students, which includes Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, and Greene counties.

There will be a live pit orchestra for Little Shop of Horrors musical in the spring. Mr. B wants the pit to perform in the band room and pipe the music into the auditorium. Auditions usually aren’t necessary, but he may have to cut kids if too many sign up.

VA Beach – letter went home with kids. Forms are on band website. Make checks payable to MABPO. If your child is in band and orchestra, two commitment forms need to be returned.

Treasurer, Karren Wood

Karren gave treasurer’s report. Motion to accept given by Laurie Crow. Seconded by Amy Patterson.

President, Andrea Ward

PIMBA – lots of people have signed up, but more volunteers are needed. Some may be asked to do double duty. Let Andrea know if you can do more than one job on Saturday for the competition.

Report time for PIMBA chaperones TBA. Only a couple chaperones and a medical person are needed at 2:15pm when the kids report.

Gates open at 5:30pm, national anthem at 6:10pm and Moon performs at 8:15pm.

Andrea will send email to setup crew with details. Leads for each team will contact team members with report time info.
