Moon Area Band Parent Organization Meeting
February 21, 2019

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The minutes from the January 2018 meeting have been posted. Approved by Sarah Schmitz and Vicki Hricz
Associate Director of Bands, Alan Fear
Mr. Barthen was with orchestra students at an event.
We will be hosting a concert with B. E. Taylor Family Band April 27th. Students from the music department will be featured from different ensembles. Proceeds will be split between the B. E. Taylor Family Band and the music department.
Music in our Schools will be general admission. Doors open at 6:15pm.
Details for next year’s trip are not finalized. The announcement will be made when it is finalized. We are looking at a travel time around April 2020.
Treasure’s Report, Vicki Hiriks

Nominations Committee: We are in need of one to two more volunteers. Committee chair is Amy Clark. Carla Collier is also a committee member. Please contact Amy or Andrea if you would like more information or if you are interested in joining this team. It is a short term commitment and will not take a lot of time.
Nominations are now open: All positions are open for nominations but there are a few that must be filled as the current board member will be leaving.

Please consider running for one of these positions, or if you know someone who would fill one of these spots nicely, encourage them to run!
Scholarship Committee: This year’s scholarship committee consist of Shea Corsetti as chair, Amy Clark, Amy Patterson and Carla Collier. MABPO and the Alumni Association offer three scholarships to be awarded at the Banquet in May. All seniors who will be attending at a higher learning instution in the fall are eligible to apply. Application and requirements will be posted on the band website soon.
Memory Book Committee: We are in need of volunteers to help create computer generated collages with whatever program you have from the comfort of your home. These are for the senior memory books that are distributed at our band banquet. If you would like to help please contact Georganna Palmer. Many hands make light work!
Senior parents will also be receiving a letter shortly asking for baby and youth pictures so start scanning those images and getting them ready to send.
Seniors will be asked to update their Senior Profile in the next week so that it is up to date for the band banquet. Please, return the forms as soon as possible.
Our annual Band Banquet will be held on Sunday, May 19th at The Fez. This is a fun event and open to all Band students and their parents. Come join us.
Winter Guard came in 2nd place in their competition. Congratulations Winter Guard. Next show is at Penn Trafford. Special thank you to the floor crew who has volunteered and the spectators who have cheered them on.
Brian Rupple will be PMEA Regional Band March 7th-9th. Good luck Brian!
Fundraising, Georganna Palmer
- NewMe Pies and Sarris Candy fundraisers are going on now.
- Coming up- Spring Fling Raffle Basket and Mattress Sale
- Spring Fling tickets will be mailed soon, information will be enclosed.
- We will be holding a mattress sale fundraiser in lieu of the spaghetti dinner in the spring. We do not have a date yet, but will need several volunteers including students to help unload the mattress to set up, then once again load them back in to the truck when the sale is over. More details to follow later.
- Scrip cards can be ordered in time for next month. Use them in your Easter Baskets or the Spring Fling fundraising raffle basket.
