Moon Area Band Parent Organization Meeting
February 9, 2016

The meeting was called to order at 7:09 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The minutes from the January 2016 meeting have been posted. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Mrs. Stathers and seconded by Mrs Daugherty.
Treasurer’s Report, Joe DeNardo
The Treasurer’s Report was submitted by Joe DeNardo. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report was made by Mrs. Cross and seconded by Mrs. Palmer.
President’s Comments, Sherri VonStein
Nominations Committee - The Nominations Committee has been formed including Cindy Diehl, Christianne Gribben, Cindy Stathers, and Jamie Zelazny. Members of this committee accept and track nominations. If nominations aren’t received for a particular position members are tasked to source out the best candidate. Open positions for the 2016-17 year include VP Communications and both VP Fundraising. If you would like to nominate someone or yourself please email the committee at nominations@moonband.org.
Scholarship Committee – The committee members are as follows: Jamie Zelazny, Cindy Stathers, Jenn Daugherty, Sherri Von Stein. This committee receives applications and awards the two scholarships from the MABPO to graduating members of the band/orchestra. Awards are given at the annual banquet. All graduating Seniors in the instrumental program are eligible to apply.
Memory Book Committee – We need help putting together the memory books that are given to each Senior at the banquet in May. Each book is personalized to the individual Senior. We will meet after the Florida trip to get started. Volunteers include: Camille Connors, Angela Cross, Leslie Davis, Erica Williams, Julie Bookser, Grace Cap, Cindy Stathers, Cindy Diehl, and Georgianna Palmer.

Sarris Candy orders are due today. Delivery is scheduled for Mar 10. Pittsburgh Popcorn – sale starts soon – A volunteer will be needed to pick up the order since it cannot be delivered to us. Spaghetti Dinner – We will need someone to learn the coordination of the basket raffles. Student sections will be asked to work together to submit baskets.

Band Director’s Comments, Mr. Nick Barthen
FLORIDA INFORMATION Travel dates Feb 12-18 on McCarter Coach & Tour coach buses. The buses do not have wifi. Students should bring portable charging blocks since there is not power on the buses. We should arrive at the beach around 3-3:30pm on Saturday. The Guidebook App is available for download. We have our personalized guidebook which will have the complete itinerary available for the students to see on their phones.
Our next Winterguard competition is at the end of February. The season will conclude on 3/19 with Championships at Cal U.
The pit orchestra is continuing to practice for the spring musical, Legally Blonde.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Musical Dates – March 3, 4, 5, and 6. Mr. Redd is conducting the pit orchestra.
MIOSM Concert – March 15 – grades 3-12
April – 4/25 Small ensemble concert, 4/29 Symphonic Adjudication
May – 5/2 Concert band and Symphonic Band concert
Memorial Day Parades – We have two parades this year. The Sewickley parade is in the morning and the Coraopolis parade is in the afternoon.
BOA Regional – Pittsburgh – September 17
Winterguard – First competition of the season at Kiski.
Strings Director Comments, Mrs. Megan Martz

Next meeting is scheduled for March 17, 2016 @ 7PM. Meeting is preceded by a closed Executive Board meeting @ 6PM. With no further comments or questions, a motion to adjourn was made by Mrs. Diehl and seconded by Mrs. Hricz. The meeting was adjourned at 7:33 PM.
