PEP BAND AT PENN CENTER - Tuesday, August 13, 2024
The marching band has been requested to perform as a pep band at the Penn-Center West office complex off of Campbells Run Road in Robinson Township on Tuesday, August 13. Report time will be at 11:00AM at MAHS Student Entrance (we will take one MASD School Bus) and should return around 1:00PM. Students will wear shorts and MAHS attire. This is a volunteer performance. Band Picture Day is Wednesday, August 14, from 8AM-10AM (before freshman orientation) at MAHS.

MAHS MARCHING BAND PICTURE DAY SCHEDULE

Students must wear black socks (above their ankles), band shoes, and appropriate gym shorts (no jean shorts or cargo shorts). Compression shirts and gloves will not be required for the picture. Students will not wear hats; students must have long hair pulled out of their faces. Order forms were distributed after the 8/8 rehearsal and can be found HERE. Hard copies will be available at the photo shoot.
• All band students must participate in the group, section, and class pictures.
• Once the group pictures, section pictures, and class pictures are completed, students may change and leave.
• Students may opt to purchase individual pictures. You must stay and wait for an additional individual picture to be taken. Make sure you have your picture form ready.
• Please remember your black shoes and black socks for these pictures.
• Students are not permitted to wear jeans or jean shorts underneath uniforms.
• Students must have hair pulled out of their face.
• Students will not wear shakos (band hats) for pictures. Students must “fix” their hair.
• Students will not wear gloves for this picture
• Students do not need to wear compression shirts for this picture.
• Jewelry, including earrings, watches, bracelets, and piercings, must be covered up or removed from the body.
• Students who do not follow guidelines and uniform etiquette will not be permitted to have their pictures taken in an MAHS Band uniform.
PRODUCTION DAY REHEARSAL - SATURDAY, AUGUST 17 - 8AM-4PM - MANDATORY!!!
Kyle (our choreographer) will be in all day to teach the ballad and any other big-body moments. Lunch will be from 11:30-12:15. Students may leave campus at this time or pack lunch and eat inside the high school. This rehearsal is vital to our competitive season!
DOT BOOK CHECKS
There will be a graded dot-book check on August 23. Students will have their dot-book collected after the 8/22 Rehearsals. This is a GRADED TEST!

PRESTO-ASSISTANT
The band is utilizing a NEW database management system, Presto-Assistant. Every student/parent has an account set up. You will receive a welcome email to the address this email has been sent to set up a PARENT Account. DO NOT SET-UP YOUR STUDENT’S ACCOUNT, their information is already set-up into the system. After you set up your parent account, you will be able to access the site at this web address: https://app.presto-assistant.com/
This site will be used for News, the band calendar, files and handouts for the year, student band financial account information, etc. The calendar is updated frequently and can be synced to your Google/i-cal. Your student's band account will be updated over the next few weeks. Please be patient while we get the system up and running.
EXCUSES FOR NOT ATTENDING REHEARSAL
If a student must miss a rehearsal, an e-mail or written note from THE PARENT is required. Microsoft Teams chats or student e-mails are not valid forms of excuses.
PLEASE NOTE: If a student is absent when the group is learning drill, the student must learn the missed material on their own. We do not have time to reteach material due to absences. The student will be held out of the production until they have shown competency on the segment.
MARCHING TUTORIAL VIDEOS & MUSIC FILES IN Microsoft TEAMS
Videos and Music Files are uploaded to the MS Student Teams. Practice tracks to the competition music are also available, these can be slowed down to aid in practicing and memorizing their music. ALL Music pertaining to the entire marching band season can be located on MS Teams. Teaching Videos off the marching technique we use are also uploaded to this team. If students are struggling, please have them utilize these tools.
GLOVES – Wind Students will need to purchase band gloves on Friday, August 23. The cost of gloves is $4.00 a pair. Students will be limited to purchase ONE (1) pair of gloves on August 23. As soon as the new shipment arrives, students will be able to purchase additional pairs of gloves. Gloves are on sale in the Uniform Room before every band event that requires uniforms.

The Marching Band will be traveling to the University of Delaware to compete in the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional on October 19-20, 2024. This will be an overnight trip. Please mark your calendars.
