FORMAL WEAR – Symphonic Band
We have several gowns, as well as tux jackets, pants, and shirts that have been donated from graduating students.  These are all in excellent condition and will be offered at reduced cost if anyone is interested in purchasing them. They will be available for students to try on at the measurement appointment on September 24.  We do not have every size available and they will be first come first serve.

MEMORIZATION TESTS   - Memorization Testing has concluded.  Students who need to re-take portions of the test need to do so before October 4.  Students will need to speak with Mr. Barthen to arrange a time.

BOA Delaware - 10/19-20/2024
The Marching Band will be traveling to the University of Delaware to compete in the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional on October 19-20, 2024.  This will be an overnight trip.  Please mark your calendars.

Homecoming Parade-Thursday, October 3 - 5:00 Report Time - The Homecoming parade is Thursday, October 3. Students will report to the M.S. Parking Lot at 5:00pm.  At 5:30pm, the parade will proceed down Tiger Trail to the Stadium.  The band will perform, other recognition will occur.  The ceremonies will conclude around 7:00PM.  We will NOT rehearse after the parade.  Band Jackets and Senior Yard Note ceremony will occur at the Student Entrance of the High School after the Parade

Homecoming Football Game – 10/4 – POST GAME SHOW!!
In following with tradition, the Band will be performing a post-game show following the football game on 10/4.  The band will perform the ENTIRE competitive show with props.  Please spread the word and stay for the performances.

The band is utilizing a NEW database management system, Presto-Assistant.  Every student/parent has an account set up.  You will receive a welcome email to the address this email has been sent to set up a PARENT Account.  DO NOT SET-UP YOUR STUDENT’S ACCOUNT, their information is already set-up into the system.  After you set up your parent account, you will be able to access the site at this web address: https://app.presto-assistant.com/
 
This site will be used for News, the band calendar, files and handouts for the year, student band financial account information, etc.  The calendar is updated frequently and can be synced to your Google/i-cal.   

EXCUSES FOR NOT ATTENDING REHEARSAL 
If a student must miss a rehearsal, an e-mail or written note from THE PARENT is required.  Microsoft Teams chats or student e-mails are not valid forms of excuses. 
 
PLEASE NOTE: If a student is absent when the group is learning drill, the student must learn the missed material on their own.  We do not have time to reteach material due to absences.  The student will be held out of the production until they have shown competency on the segment.

Thursday concession set up time has changed 8pm to 9pm and Friday 1:30pm to 3:30pm Due to the soccer game on Thursday eve. 
Thursday, we need some strong men to help fill the coolers with Ice.
Friday is setting up the concession stand for the game.

The next home game is this Friday, September 13th. If you can donate anything from the sign-up genius below it would be appreciated! Donations can be dropped in the band room Thursday evening or Friday before the game between 4:30PM and 5:30. MABPO runs the concession stand under the Home-side bleachers. Thank you!

The Mt. Lebanon PIMBA Show will NOT interfere with students wishing to take the PSAT.  Report time will be 1pm or later, depending on our performance time.  PSAT will conclude no later than 12:30pm.

Memorization Test for WIND players will be administered during the week of September 3-20.  Please log-on to Presto/MS TEAMS Document/Handout Section for the specific date your student will have his/her test.   The students were notified of this test on June 5, 2024 and given their specific date on August 13.  Please check Skyward for their grade.

NORWIN BOA AFFLIATE SHOW – Sat. Sept. 21 – Norwin HS Band will be hosting the first ever in western PA, a Bands of America Affiliate show at Norwin HS.  An affiliate show is modeled after a BOA Regional competition (the one we are going to in October), with BOA adjudicators, a preliminary and finals round, but in a local venue, at no cost to the bands.  This will be a great first show for the students and staff to learn and gain feedback about our production.  The prelims round will begin at 11:30am, MAHS Band will perform in the preliminary round at 1:30pm.  The finals round will consist of the top 8 bands, out of 18 possible in the evening show.  The finals show begins at 7:00pm.  If MAHS Band qualifies for the final round, we will not know our performance time or seeding until the conclusion of the preliminary show.  Report time for the students is set at 8:00am.  They will need to eat breakfast and bring a lunch to eat on the bus.  We will be sharing dinner with the Penn-Trafford HS Band, at Penn-Trafford HS in between the prelims and finals shows.  The menu will be relayed once it is set.  This will be an all day/night event.

TOUR SHIRTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE TO ORDER!
If you are interested in ordering a tour shirt or shirts, please print out the attached order form or HERE on Presto. Completed order forms and payment can be sent in to the band room mailbox. All orders are due to the band room mailbox no later than the start of the football game this Friday, August 30th. No late orders can be accepted due. No extra shirts will be ordered.

September lottery tickets are due this Friday, August 30^th before the end of the game.  Late tickets will NOT be accepted and the last time the box is checked will be after the game.

PRESTO-ASSISTANT
The band is utilizing a NEW database management system, Presto-Assistant.  Every student/parent has an account set up.  You will receive a welcome email to the address this email has been sent to set up a PARENT Account.  DO NOT SET-UP YOUR STUDENT’S ACCOUNT, their information is already set-up into the system.  After you set up your parent account, you will be able to access the site at this web address: https://app.presto-assistant.com/
 
This site will be used for News, the band calendar, files and handouts for the year, student band financial account information, etc.  The calendar is updated frequently and can be synced to your Google/i-cal.   Your student's band account will be updated over the next few weeks.  Please be patient while we get the system up and running. 


EXCUSES FOR NOT ATTENDING REHEARSAL 
If a student must miss a rehearsal, an e-mail or written note from THE PARENT is required.  Microsoft Teams chats or student e-mails are not valid forms of excuses. 
 
PLEASE NOTE: If a student is absent when the group is learning drill, the student must learn the missed material on their own.  We do not have time to reteach material due to absences.  The student will be held out of the production until they have shown competency on the segment.

NORWIN BOA AFFLIATE SHOW – Sat. Sept. 21 – Norwin HS Band will be hosting the first ever in western PA, a Bands of America Affiliate show at Norwin HS.  An affiliate show is modeled after a BOA Regional competition (the one we are going to in October), with BOA adjudicators, a preliminary and finals round, but in a local venue, at no cost to the bands.  This will be a great first show for the students and staff to learn and gain feedback about our production.  The prelims round will begin at 11:30am, MAHS Band will perform in the preliminary round at 1:30pm.  The finals round will consist of the top 8 bands, out of 18 possible in the evening show.  The finals show begins at 7:00pm.  If MAHS Band qualifies for the final round, we will not know our performance time or seeding until the conclusion of the preliminary show.  Report time for the students is set at 8:00am.  They will need to eat breakfast and bring a lunch to eat on the bus.  We will be sharing dinner with the Penn-Trafford HS Band, at Penn-Trafford HS in between the prelims and finals shows.  The menu will be relayed once it is set.  This will be an all day/night event.
BOA Delaware - 10/19-20/2024
The Marching Band will be traveling to the University of Delaware to compete in the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional on October 19-20, 2024.  This will be an overnight trip.  Please mark your calendars.

HALFTIME SNACK DONATIONS REQUESTED
At each football game, both home and away, and competition, the band parents offer a small snack to the band following their performance. We also provide a snack to the visiting bands during our home games. 
If you are able, please consider signing up to donate part of one of the snacks. Please deliver all snack donations to the band room Thursday night, 8/22 either during the band parent meeting at 7:00 or at 9:00 at the end of rehearsal (Please do not send snacks in with your students prior. We try to make sure our collection is not in the way of the band and is put away properly.)  Click HERE to sign up!

Hoagie orders can be picked up on Tuesday, August 20th between 4-6PM at the high school cafeteria. 
September lottery tickets are still on going. You can return unsold tickets or stubs and money to the band room mailbox. Ticket stubs and money is due Friday, August 30^th.

MUSIC MEMORIZATION TEST - LINK
Memorization Test for WIND players will be administered during the week of August September 3-20.  Please log-on to Presto/MS TEAMS Document/Handout Section for the specific date your student will have his/her test.   The students were notified of this test on June 5, 2024 and given their specific date on August 13.  Please check Skyward for their grade.

DOT BOOK CHECKS
There will be a graded dot-book check on August 23.  Students will have their dot-book collected after the 8/22 Rehearsals.  This is a GRADED TEST!

GLOVES – Wind Students will need to purchase band gloves on Friday, August 23.  The cost of gloves is $4.00 a pair.  Students will be limited to purchase ONE (1) pair of gloves on August 23.  As soon as the new shipment arrives, students will be able to purchase additional pairs of gloves.  Gloves are on sale in the Uniform Room before every band event that requires uniforms.

MARCHING TUTORIAL VIDEOS  & MUSIC FILES IN Microsoft TEAMS 
Videos and Music Files are uploaded to the MS Student Teams.  Practice tracks to the competition music are also available, these can be slowed down to aid in practicing and memorizing their music.  ALL Music pertaining to the entire marching band season can be located on MS Teams.  Teaching Videos off the marching technique we use are also uploaded to this team.  If students are struggling, please have them utilize these tools.
