VOLUNTEERS – Cutting and Sewing
Thank you so much to everyone who helped cut at sew last Monday night! We had a great turnout and got a lot done! Special thank you to Tina Foremsky and Heather Park who helped me come up with a pattern and design for the bags!
This Tuesday and Thursday at 6 pm in the band room, we will be sewing saxophone bags. If you have a sewing machine and can help – we would appreciate it! We also need to hand sew 2 scrunchies onto each bag for the arm holes. This is not hard to do and I can teach anyone who would like to help. We also have a few things that need done if you want to help and cannot sew. Email Uniforms@moonband.org if you can help.
The September raffle is ongoing throughout the month. Winners will be determined by the 7 p.m. 3 digit Pennsylvania daily lottery number. Winners will be notified via phone call.
The St. Johnsbury Candle fundraiser began on Tuesday, September 15. Fall and holiday themed candle scents are available in 14-oz. jars and in candle melt sizes. Orders and payments are due by October 8. Delivery will be in early November. The color brochures are in the mail and will be available at the end of practices once they arrive. Digital flyers are available HERE.
The NewMe's Pies Fundraiser will begin on Tuesday, September 29. Look for the information in the next newsletter.

We will be holding our MAHS Band Night and Senior Recognition on Saturday, September 26 in our MAHS Tiger Stadium. With the stadium capacity at 250 people, regardless of role (performers, spectators, staff, etc.), we will be holding three, full band performances and have assigned spectators a performance time to view the performance based on their student’s last name. The performances will begin at 7:00pm, 7:30pm, and 8:00pm, with ten minutes of passing in between the show to clear the stadium. Underclassmen parents will receive three tickets to an assigned performance. Senior parents will receive four tickets to their 8:00pm performance, which will include the on-field Senior Recognition Ceremonies. If parents have multiple students in band, they will only receive one set of tickets based on their oldest child grade. (ie. senior and a junior student in band will receive 4 tickets for the 8pm performance; junior and sophomore in band will receive 3 tickets for the performance associated with their student’s last name). Tickets will be distributed at the Tuesday 9.22 rehearsal in a white MASD envelope to the oldest student in the family. Below is the breakdown of the assigned viewings:
- HOT PINK TICKET - 7:00 PM Performance
Spectators will consist of families of underclassmen students with the last name that begin with A – McCartney.
- SKY BLUE TICKET – 7:30PM Performance
Spectators will consist of families of underclassmen students with the last name that begin with McCormick – Z.
- LIME GREEN TICKET – 8:00PM
Spectators will consist of families of senior band members.
ALL BAND STUDENTS WILL PERFORM IN ALL THREE SHOWS!
- Tickets are NOT transferable to different shows times other than the time printed on the ticket.
- If you are not utilizing your allotted amount of tickets, I would encourage you to give your ticket(s) to someone who would use it for that performance.
- All spectators must wear a mask/face covering and adhere to social/physical distance protocols at this event!
FULL BAND REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES
With the changes in guidelines, we have been given the go ahead to rehearse and perform with the Full Ensemble for non-sporting events. We are going to hold a MAHS Band Night on Saturday, September 26 in our MAHS Tiger Stadium.
We are also going to be honoring our Senior Band Members during our MAHS Band Night on September 26. Additional details will be provided to Seniors and Senior parents.
CHANGES IN REHEARSAL SCHEDULE - September 22 and September 24 – Full Band
To prepare for the 9.26 performance, we will be holding Full Band rehearsals on Tuesday, September 22 and Thursday, September 24 from 6pm-9pm. Both members in Bands #1 and Band #2 should be in attendance for both rehearsals. We will be able to continue the Physical Distancing methods which have been established by the design of the marching band show. Students will need to complete the Self Health Check Form including the temperature check, wear face coverings and bring water to rehearsal. Upon arrival, students should place their items on their “Side” of the field in which they perform. Weather will play a huge factor in the success of these rehearsal. If heavy rain or thunderstorms are pending, there may need to switch back to our original split rehearsal plan. These updates will occur, if necessary, through TEAMS, REMIND, and e-mail. Additional information will be made available as soon as it is known!
If your student is going to be absent from a marching band rehearsal, please communicate with either Mr. Barthen (winds/guard) or Mr. Fear (pit/battery percussion). This will aid us in planning and structure of rehearsal. Our e-mail addresses can be found at the bottom of this document.
