Want to show your support for the Moon Area Marching Band during upcoming PIMBA shows? Keeping with this year’s show theme “A TIME FOR EVERYTING”, the MABPO is selling Light Up Fans. Help us to light up the stands with Tiger fans as the band takes the field. Fans are available for $5.00 each. The PIMBA Championship is coming up this Sat, October 27. Buy a couple of fans now and light them up Saturday to show your support! You can pick them up after practice on Thursday 10/25. Exact change only or checks made payable to MABPO. SENIOR RECOGNITION NIGHT – Friday, October 26, 2018
Seniors and their parents should arrive at the high school cafeteria between 4:45-5:15 PM to be photographed. After photos, you will be escorted to the stadium. During halftime presentation, you will accompany your senior band member onto the field. Dinner for senior band members and their parents is after the football game.

NewMe's Pies fundraiser orders and payments are due on Tuesday, October 23. Delivery will be on Thursday, November 15, from 4:00-5:30 PM, in the high school cafeteria.
Our Suburban Landscape greenery and poinsettia fundraiser is underway. Items include wreaths, garlands, and poinsettias. Order forms can be found HERE. Orders are due by Wednesday, November 7. Delivery will be on Wednesday, December 5.
Our Sarris Chocolates and Candies fundraiser begins on Tuesday, October 23. Now is the time to order all of your holiday candy for gifts and stocking stuffers. Brochures and order forms are available in the band room. Information sheets are be found in the band room and HERE. Orders and payments are due on November 13. Deliver will be on December 12.
We still have "Moon Band" light up bands available for purchase. The bands have on/off switches and will last for approximately 15 hours. The batteries can be replaced. Bands can be purchased in the band stand at football games or you can contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Each band is $5.00. Profit benefits the general fund. See photo HERE.
HEINZ FIELD/PNC PARK
Fundraising through Heinz Field and PNC Park Concessions is a great way to earn money to pay for all of your child’s future band expenses. Many parents who participate pay nothing out of pocket for Away Band Camp, Disney Trips, and uniform needs. The next event to work at Heinz Field is a Steelers game on Thursday, November 8th with a 5:00 report time and an 8:20 start time. There will also be a Pitt Game on Saturday, November 10th with a report time TBD. All necessary training can be done from home! Please contact Heather Park at email@example.com to get started.
SENIOR POLE NOTES
Senior Pole Notes are up! Please consider purchasing your child's note to be distributed after marching season ends. The price is $18.00 and payment should made to MABPO and can be dropped in the MABPO mailbox in the band room..
Student accounts are current through the September 30th payouts for Aramark.
Moon Band Parent Organization has a private Facebook group where events are posted. It is a closed group and you can request access to “Moon Area Band Parent Organization”. You will be prompted to identify your moon band student and the year they graduate.
As a reminder, please do not post videos on social media where the general public can view them. This is especially important as we begin the season.

- ADMISSION: $9.00 – Adults; $5.00 for students and Senior Citizens; Gates open at 3pm with Opening Ceremonies start at 4:00PM.

- The MAHS Alumni Band Parents Organization will be serving the students a sit-down dinner in the cafeteria at 4PM. Please plan accordingly if you will need additional food. STUDENTS MUST STAY AT SCHOOL FOR THE DURATION OF THE DAY. STUDENTS CANNOT LEAVE CAMPUS FOR ANY REASON.

Halloween Parade at Moon Park 10/24 - Moon Twp. Park & Rec. is holding a Halloween event on Wednesday, 10/24. This is a voluntary event, but we need to have at least 20-30 students attend. Students should arrive at Moon Park at 4:00 PM at the Amphitheater, and activities will conclude at 6:30PM. Students are encouraged to dress in costume, we will be marching a mini-parade using fight song, stand cheers, etc.
KDKA Radio Interview with Rob Pratte – October 23.
Mr. Rob Pratte from KDKA radio will be interviewing Mr. Barthen regarding the upcoming PIMBA Championship show hosted by Moon Area High School. This will be done in coordination with the Marching Band’s evening 6pm rehearsal. Mr. Pratte will be placing the interview on his KDKA Radio Facebook and Youtube channels. He MAY use video of the band rehearsing as the background. If you would like your child NOT to be included in this recording/video, please let Mr. Barthen know, via e-mail, by Monday, October 22, 2018. If there are any questions, please contact.
TRUNK OR TREAT – 10/25 – This has become a tradition to decorate parent’s vehicles and pass out candy to the kid’s ala trick-or treating around the neighborhoods/cars. Students will dress-up for rehearsal, and trunk-or treat. This will begin around 9:00PM. Check www.moonband.org for additional details and pictures from previous years events. To make candy plans, we have 123 students in the marching band!
Private Instrumental Lessons
Private Instrumental lessons is a great way to excel on your instrument. Not only will you learn specific techniques on your instrument, from a teacher who is an expert on your instrument, but also it will open doors to new repertoire, solo, ensemble, etc. Private lessons will also provide confidence when performing in an ensemble or auditioning for any PMEA festival. Contact Mr. Barthen for a complete list of private instructors in the area.

Under PA Law Act 153, The State of Pennsylvania is requiring all adults who volunteer in any capacity within the school to obtain background checks. This will include parents who volunteer to chaperone the MAHS Marching Band at football games, parades, band camps, and trips. Chaperones are required to complete the PA State Police Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints. The FBI Fingerprint is only if the volunteer has not been a state of PA resident for at least 10 years. Please visit http://www.keepkidssafe.pa.gov for additional information.
