Please plan to attend the MONTHLY band parent meeting this Thursday at 7:00pm in the band room. We have many things to prepare for as October is almost here and is going to be a VERY busy but fun month!

TOUR SHIRTS
It's official! We are ordering "tour" shirts this week! For those new to band, each year we have someone create a t-shirt that coordinates with the theme of our competition show for the season and this year is no exception. Kaylee Priddy is our designer this year. She is a Moon Grad and talented artist and is also one of our Color Guard techs this year. Please be on the lookout for order forms later this week. We will need to have your orders quickly to ensure that we receive the shirts back in time for the competitions.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED
We are still in need of someone (or even a few people) to oversee the raffle baskets for PIMBA Championships, The Pancake Breakfast and Cookie Walk in December, and for our Spring event. It's not as daunting a task as it may seem but is a huge money-maker for the band! Please contact Andrea Ward at President@moonband.org for more info.

CONCESSIONS - Help Needed
A big THANK YOU to all of you who helped set up and run the concession stand this past week! Your help was greatly appreciated!
We are in need of volunteers to help set up Thursday September 27 in the evening and help with the concession stand on Friday September 28.

SENIOR YARD NOTES
We are looking for about 6-7 volunteers to help paint senior yard notes at the Pelkington's on Monday, September 24th. No artistic talent needed. Please contact Andrea Ward at President@moonband.org .

SENIOR POLE NOTES
Senior Pole Notes are up! Please consider purchasing your child's note to be distributed after marching season ends. The price is $18.00 and payment should made to MABPO and can be dropped in the MABPO mailbox in the band room.

FUNDRAISING
Orders and payments for the J&J Hoagie and pepperoni roll fundraiser are due onTuesday, September 18..  The order must be submitted on Wednesday morning, so NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Delivery will be on Wednesday, September 26, from 4-5:30 PM, in the high school cafeteria.  Order forms are available on-line.

Our Chestnut Hill Candle Company fundraiser begins on Tuesday, September 18.  New items this year are 3-scent packs of wax melts.  Each candle or 3-pack sells for $12.00 and earns $4.25 per item for your student's account.  Brochures and Master order forms are only available in the band room.  Information sheets are available HERE and in the band room.  Please read the instructions carefully before submitting your order.  Orders and payments are due on October 9.

We still have "Moon Band" light up bands available for purchase.  The bands have on/off switches and will last for approximately 15 hours.  The batteries can be replaced.  Bands can be purchased in the band stand at football games or you can contact fundraising@moonband.org.  Each band is $5.00.  Profit benefits the general fund.  See photo HERE.

NewMe Pies are at the Moon Township farmer's market every Wednesday from 3-6:00, at the Municipal Building.  So, if you are hungry for delicious fruit pies, please stop by.

A summary of MABPO fundraisers can be found HERE.  Please contact fundraising@moonband.org with any questions

HEINZ FIELD/PNC PARK
Fundraising through Heinz Field and PNC Park Concessions is a great way to earn money to pay for all of your child’s future band expenses.  Many parents who participate pay nothing out of pocket for Away Band Camp, Disney Trips, and uniform needs.  The next event to work at Heinz Field is a Steeler Game on Sunday, September 30th.  The report time is 5:00 PM and the game will start at 8:30 PM.  All necessary training can be done from home!  Please contact Heather Park at hburakow@yahoo.com to get started.

STUDENT ACCOUNTS
Student accounts are up to date through August 19th Aramark game.

BAND JACKETS & VARSITY LETTERS
There were students eligible to order Band Jackets this past May (current sophomores, freshmen who marched as 8th graders and upperclassmen who have completed one year of band) that did not do so as they already had a jacket with another sport.  If those students would like to receive their Band Varsity Letter so they can add it to their jacket, they should send Mrs. Wolf an email at uniforms@moonband.org.  These varsity letters will be presented at the Band Jacket / Band Note Ceremony on September 27th.  Contact Mrs. Wolf at 412-580-3147 with any questions.  Thank you!

COMMUNICATIONS
Moon Band Parent Organization has a private Facebook group where events are posted.  It is a closed group and you can request access to “Moon Area Band Parent Organization”.  You will be prompted to identify your moon band student and the year they graduate.
As a reminder, please do not post videos on social media where the general public can view them.  This is especially important as we begin the season.

The MAHS Marching Band will be defending its 2016 and 2017 AA title at the BOA Regional held at Canton, Ohio Pro-Football Hall of Fame Stadium.  (Yes, this is the same stadium where the Hall of Fame game is played, Chicago vs Baltimore on 8/2 this year).
As of now, we are slated to perform between 2PM-4PM.  Times will be solidified in late August.  Students will be reporting to the H.S. around 9AM, departing on three motor coaches, arriving, warming-up, performance in the preliminary competition, and either watching the finals performance, or performing in the finals performance, which begins around 7:00pm.  Logistics are being worked out now, this will be an extremely long day for all involved, please plan accordingly.
