CONCESSIONS
As we close out another successful year at the Bandstand Heidi and Ginny could not have done this alone- it took MANY people to make the Bandstand successful- the people that came the night before and helped set up the stand, the people who donated delicious home cooked food for our customers, the volunteers who braved the weather ,put on a smile and give their best so our customers could have the best experience and finally to those who came before and after the game to help set up and clean up. THANK YOU. This is what volunteering is all about.
We are now looking for people to step up and manage the stand for the 2020-21 season. Ideally it should be 2-3 people. Anyone interested please let us know concessions@moonband.org .

Parents, decorate your car and hand out treats to the band kids! Let's keep this tradition going. The kids really enjoy it and they're only kids for so long!

CLEARANCES
Please remember in order to volunteer with anything other than concessions we must have your clearances on file. We’d love to have you and although they may not say it, your student does like to see you involved. Child abuse clearance and Criminal background check is needed for every volunteer, and if you have lived in PA less than 10 years a FBI Fingerprint clearance is also required (this one takes a while to get). Clearances are good for 5 years. Please send copies of your clearances in an envelope into the band room mailbox with your student or email them to Shea Corsetti at secretary@moonband.org.

COMMUNICATIONS
Moon Band Parent Organization has a private Facebook group where events are posted.  It is a closed group and you can request access to “Moon Area Band Parent Organization”.  You will be prompted to identify your moon band student and the year they graduate.
As a reminder, please do not post videos on social media where the general public can view them.  This is especially important as we begin the season.

WPIAL Football Play-offs
The football team HAS qualified for the WPIAL play-offs.  The first game will be Friday, November 1 at MAHS.  Report time will be 5:30pm.  During the WPIAL Play-offs, only first-round game can be at a teams home field, the remaining games will be at a neutral site).  The full band will travel in support of the team. Games will be Friday during the WPIAL play-offs.  These will be graded events.  Plans will be forwarded as soon as they are known.  The band will rehearse once a week (Tue. or Thu.) from 6pm-7:15pm while the team is in the play-offs.

PIMBA Championships at Gateway H.S. - 10/26 - The final competition of the year, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association Championships, held at Gateway High School.  Our score at our show on 10/12 provided us with a 3rd from last performance spot, behind Kiski Area H.S. and Norwin H.S., who competed last week (10/19).  There are will be 18 bands competing, with performance from the IUP Marching Band.  Please come out, wear red, and support our students, it will be a great performance!

Halloween Parade at Moon Park 10/23 - Moon Twp. Park & Rec. is holding a Halloween event on Wednesday, 10/23.  This is a voluntary event, but we need to have at least 20-30 students attend.  Students should arrive at Moon Park at 4:00 PM at the Amphitheater, and activities will conclude at 6:30PM.  Students are encouraged to dress in costume, we will be marching a mini-parade using fight song, stand cheers, etc.

IMPORTANT – Hoodies at Rehearsals – As the weather begins to turn colder, please make sure students are bringing appropriate clothing to rehearsal.  Students are not permitted to wear the hood part of a hoodie or ski masks during rehearsal.  The hood and/or ski mask impair peripheral vision and is a safety issue.  Students are encouraged to wear hats, tassel hats, beanies etc.

TRUNK OR TREAT – 10/29 – This has become a tradition to decorate parent’s vehicles and pass out candy to the kid’s ala trick-or treating around the neighborhoods/cars.  Students will dress-up for rehearsal, and trunk-or treat.  This will begin around 7:30pm.  Check
www.moonband.org for additional details and pictures from previous years events.  To make candy plans, we have 120 students in the marching band!
