SENIORS – Due this week
Attention Seniors/ Senior Families - Please bring in a wallet-size copy of your favorite senior picture in an envelope and hand it to Gabe or Daniel Gayoso in the next week. Thank you!

SENIOR PARENTSDue April 20
Every year MABPO gifts our seniors with a Memory Book of photos from their years in band.   We also put together a slideshow of photos to be shown at the Band Banquet in May.  Please send 12-15 cute, funny, or meaningful photos of your senior (ranging from infant to teen) to be used in both of these.   You do not need to send photos from the SmugMug site.  We have already collected those.  Please send the photos in .jpeg form to 
pictures@moonband.org.  Please contact pictures@moonband.org if you have any questions.  
Also, you should have received a letter in the mail detailing this request and a survey form for your senior to complete.
Photos and Senior surveys are due by April 20.


FUNDRAISING
Our DiBella's Subs Fundraiser begins on Tuesday, April 13.  This will be our last student account fundraiser of the school year.  Everyone loves subs - especially our teachers!    Information sheets and order forms are available HERE and HERE.  Orders and payments are due on Thursday, April 29.  Delivery will be on Wednesday, May 12.

Save the date- May 1 for a car wash fundraiser at Globe!

GOLF OUTING
Registration - You can still register for the MABPO Golf outing to be held on May 15th. Click HERE to register.

The day of the golf outing cannot happen without volunteers to help pull it all together. HERE is a sign-up genius of those positions we need help filling to make this event run as smoothly and successfully as possible. All positions are for a short amount of time during the day of the outing. If you volunteer to help the day of the outing, please leave your t-shirt size in the comment section (or email it to me directly). All volunteers will be given a band shirt for the outing. 

We are also looking to get as much food and beverage donated as possible for the day of the outing. HERE is the sign-up genius

REMINDER
Instrument Bell Covers/Bags and FACEMASKS
Due to the mask mandate in Allegheny County, we are going to ask students who play a wind instrument to supply an extra mask that may be kept in their instrument case.
  Below you will find a link to a short video explaining how to cut a small slit (enough to fit their mouthpiece through) to wear during class. This extra precaution accompanies the instrument bags or bell covers they have been using while in band classes since the start of the school year. 
 

   
There are also several websites selling “instrumentalist masks”.  These may be purchased if you would like, but a disposable mask or a spare fabric mask at home will work fine as well. We will begin playing in class starting Monday, January 11th so we would ask students to be prepared with a second mask upon entering the music rooms.  

In addition, bell covering, and instrument bags are required for all students performing inside/in class.  These devices SHOULD NOT BE IMMERSED IN WATER.  To clean/disinfect these bags, they can be wiped down with a Clorox Wipe and let to air dry.

Per the updated MASD policy, Clearances are valid for 5 years
Under PA Law Act 153, The State of Pennsylvania is requiring all adults who volunteer in any capacity within the school to obtain background checks. This will include parents who volunteer to chaperone the MAHS Marching Band at football games, parades, band camps, and trips. Chaperones are required to complete the PA State Police Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints. The FBI Fingerprint is only if the volunteer has not been a state of PA resident for at least 10 years. Please visit http://www.keepkidssafe.pa.gov for additional information.

SCHOLARSHIP
The Moon Area Band Parent Organization, Inc. is excited to announce its 15th Annual Instrumental Music Scholarship Awards. Eligible Seniors can find information on how to apply on the band website.  Application packets are available HERE.
Please feel free to email the letter of recommendation form (HERE) to the people from whom you are seeking a recommendation. They can fill it out, scan it, and then email it back to scholarship@moonband.org, or they can mail it.
Any questions can be directed to the scholarship committee at scholarship@moonband.org.
Additionally, email submission of the scholarship application and essay is also acceptable.  The deadline is still April 16, 2021.

Under PA Law Act 153, The State of Pennsylvania is requiring all adults who volunteer in any capacity within the school to obtain background checks. This will include parents who volunteer to chaperone the MAHS Marching Band at football games, parades, band camps, and trips. Chaperones are required to complete the PA State Police Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints. The FBI Fingerprint is only if the volunteer has not been a state of PA resident for at least 10 years. Please visit http://www.keepkidssafe.pa.gov for additional information.

SCHOLARSHIP
The Moon Area Band Parent Organization, Inc. is excited to announce its 15th Annual Instrumental Music Scholarship Awards. Eligible Seniors can find information on how to apply on the band website.  Application packets are available HERE.
Please feel free to email the letter of recommendation form (HERE) to the people from whom you are seeking a recommendation. They can fill it out, scan it, and then email it back to scholarship@moonband.org, or they can mail it.
Any questions can be directed to the scholarship committee at scholarship@moonband.org.
Additionally, email submission of the scholarship application and essay is also acceptable.  The deadline is still April 16, 2021.

You can drop off or mail (gift cards, checks made out to MABPO, etc) all donations to my home address at 503 Blue Ridge Drive., Moon, PA.  (Please let me know if you are dropping something off so I know to watch for it.)

Every year MABPO gifts our seniors with a Memory Book of photos from their years in band.   We also put together a slideshow of photos to be shown at the Band Banquet in May.  Please send 12-15 cute, funny, or meaningful photos of your senior (ranging from infant to teen) to be used in both of these.   You do not need to send photos from the SmugMug site.  We have already collected those.  Please send the photos in .jpeg form to pictures@moonband.org.  Please contact pictures@moonband.org if you have any questions.  
Also, you should have received a letter in the mail detailing this request and a survey form for your senior to complete.
Photos and Senior surveys are due by April 20.

REMINDER
Instrument Bell Covers/Bags and FACEMASKS
Due to the mask mandate in Allegheny County, we are going to ask students who play a wind instrument to supply an extra mask that may be kept in their instrument case.
  Below you will find a link to a short video explaining how to cut a small slit (enough to fit their mouthpiece through) to wear during class. This extra precaution accompanies the instrument bags or bell covers they have been using while in band classes since the start of the school year. 
 
   
There are also several websites selling “instrumentalist masks”.  These may be purchased if you would like, but a disposable mask or a spare fabric mask at home will work fine as well. We will begin playing in class starting Monday, January 11th so we would ask students to be prepared with a second mask upon entering the music rooms.  

In addition, bell covering, and instrument bags are required for all students performing inside/in class.  These devices SHOULD NOT BE IMMERSED IN WATER.  To clean/disinfect these bags, they can be wiped down with a Clorox Wipe and let to air dry.

MAEF 5K Event - Friday, May 7 - Various Band Ensembles Performances
We will need Band students to perform around the race route on MAHS/MAMS Campus from 6:00pm-8:30pm.
Percussion Ensemble will perform at 5pm on the stage next to the stadium.

In addition, Jazz Band 1 & Jazz Band 2 will be performing around 7:30pm on the stage next to the Stadium

REMINDER
Instrument Bell Covers/Bags and FACEMASKS
Due to the mask mandate in Allegheny County, we are going to ask students who play a wind instrument to supply an extra mask that may be kept in their instrument case.
  Below you will find a link to a short video explaining how to cut a small slit (enough to fit their mouthpiece through) to wear during class. This extra precaution accompanies the instrument bags or bell covers they have been using while in band classes since the start of the school year.  
   
There are also several websites selling “instrumentalist masks”.  These may be purchased if you would like, but a disposable mask or a spare fabric mask at home will work fine as well. We will begin playing in class starting Monday, January 11th so we would ask students to be prepared with a second mask upon entering the music rooms.  

In addition, bell covering, and instrument bags are required for all students performing inside/in class.  These devices SHOULD NOT BE IMMERSED IN WATER.  To clean/disinfect these bags, they can be wiped down with a Clorox Wipe and let to air dry.

Under PA Law Act 153, The State of Pennsylvania is requiring all adults who volunteer in any capacity within the school to obtain background checks. This will include parents who volunteer to chaperone the MAHS Marching Band at football games, parades, band camps, and trips. Chaperones are required to complete the PA State Police Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints. The FBI Fingerprint is only if the volunteer has not been a state of PA resident for at least 10 years. Please visit http://www.keepkidssafe.pa.gov for additional information.

Reminder:  Sarris Candies and NewMe's Pies fundraisers will be delivered on Thursday, March 25.  Pick-up times are from 4-5:30 pm in the Moon High School Cafeteria. Please be timely, pies arrive frozen and we do note have a way to store them.

SCHOLARSHIP
The Moon Area Band Parent Organization, Inc. is excited to announce its 15th Annual Instrumental Music Scholarship Awards. Packets will be e-mailed out to Eligible Seniors on Thursday March 25th.  Eligible Seniors will also find information on how to apply on the band website after that date.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at scholarship@moonband.org

GOLF OUTING
This year, the Moon Area Band Parent Organization is hosting a golf outing! If you are interested in joining in the fun, please click on the link HERE register. Send completed registration to moonbandgolfouting@gmail.com

In addition to registering to golf, we are also offering families and local businesses the opportunity to show their support for the band (or a favorite band or colorguard member). RAFFLE BASKETS – donations needed
In preparation for our upcoming golf outing , we are putting together baskets to be raffled off as one of the extra event components. We would like to respectfully request our families consider selecting an item or two from the attached sign-up genius to donate, helping to build some amazing baskets and hopefully raise more money for our organization as a result!

SENIOR PARENTS
Every year MABPO gifts our seniors with a Memory Book of photos from their years in band.   We also put together a slideshow of photos to be shown at the Band Banquet in May.  Please send 12-15 cute, funny, or meaningful photos of your senior (ranging from infant to teen) to be used in both of these.   You do not need to send photos from the SmugMug site.  We have already collected those.  Please send the photos in .jpeg form to pictures@moonband.org.  Please contact pictures@moonband.org if you have any questions.
