Moon Area Band Parent Organization Meeting

August 17, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 7:07pm.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

The minutes from the July 2017 meeting have been posted.  Motion to accept the minutes was made by Mrs. Vandenbosche and seconded by Mrs. Ward.

 

Treasurer’s Report, Vicki Hricz

The Treasurer’s Report was submitted by Vicki Hricz.  Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made by Mrs. Stathers and seconded by Mrs. Schmitz.

 

Band Director’s Comments, Mr. Nick Barthen

He is pleased to announce the Abby Iksic will be the new Elementary School Band Director, replacing Billy Redd.

 

The marching band will have a mandatory rehearsal with Austin Greene (Show Designer) on Saturday 8/19/17 from 8am to 4pm.

 

Students are encouraged to participate in the District Wide Faculty and Staff Performance on Thursday 8/24/17 from approx. 8:30am to 9:30am.

Wear shorts and a Moon Area shirt.  (Sports shirts are fine) 

 

Friday 8/25/17 is the first football game.  Report times for all home games 5:30pm.

 

For the 9/1/17 Armstrong Football game, call time for the band will be approximately 4pm.  Buses will leave at 4:30pm.

 

The 9/9/17 Kiski PIMBA Competition will be at their new stadium.

 

9/16/17 Bands Of America Competition in Canton, OH will be approx.. 2 ½ hour drive.  We will have 3 Coach Buses.  Our first performance block will be between 12:3opm and 2:00pm.  He will have pre-sale tickets for sale soon.

 

9/23/17 is our Home PIMBA show.  Six bands, plus Moon Area will perform.

 

Strings Director Comments, Mrs. Megan Martz

President’s Comments, Sherri Von Stein

Turn in any forms that haven’t been turned in yet.  Communication, Blue Volunteer Forms, etc.

 

Thank you to all of the Volunteers, Chaperones, Truck Crew, Food Donators for Band Camp.

 

There is a Chaperone meeting to follow this meeting.

 

Bob Stathers is looking for Truck Crew Volunteers.

 

Thank you to those who supported the two Color Guard Car Washes.

 

Thank you to Mike Howell and John Von Stein for hanging the Band Notes on the light posts.

 

Football Game Season Passes will be available for parents and siblings to purchase on 8/21 thru 8/25 only, from 9am and 3:30pm in the Athletic Dept. Ofc. 

 

Football Game Snack Donation Sign-Up Genius will be set up soon.

 

9/23/17 PIMBA Competition at Moon Area:

  • Mike Connors looking for help soliciting businesses
  • Sign-Up Genius will be set up soon for volunteers
  • Program Ads will be due on 9/7/17
  • Program Pre-Sale will be (hopefully) on 9/21/17 after practice
  •  

Thursday September 28th will be Senior Yard Band Note and Jacket distribution night.  It will take place at approximately 8:45pm after practice on the Middle School lot.

Alumni Association, Cindy Bartus

Monthly schedule for Scrip Orders will be available on the website.

 

The Alumni Association will pay for and serve the Moon Area Band at the home PiMBA Competition.

 

New membership for Alumni members will begin September 2017.  Dues are $25/individual and $50/family.

 

Uniform Coordinator, Denise Wolf

Compression shirts still aren’t in.  Please have the students wear some type of

Dri-Fit shirt under their uniforms until they come in.

Gloves will be available for purchase for $3/each the first week of the season.

Formal Wear fittings are happening right now!  The final order must be submitted by her on 9/7/17.

Light Up Bracelets are available for $5.  Will be sold during Youth Night.

 

Lottery Ticket sales are ongoing.  Sold tickets due to be turned in by end of August, or not eligible.If you have any tickets that you do not intend to sell, please return them to Georganna as she has people who have requested more.

Hoagie Sales are ongoing.  Orders due by 9/7/17.

Chestnut Hills Candles is the next sale coming up.

Secretary, Laura Wall

Nothing to report.

Band Stand, Kathy Keppel

Sign-ups for Saturday’s lunch is complete.

Sign-ups for Thursday night set-up before football games is complete.

Still need more volunteers to sign-up for Friday nights.

Sign-ups lists will be posted weekly.

PIMBA Competition flyer will be available soon.  Please download from the website and post around the area (businesses, churches) to notify the community.

Next meeting is scheduled for 9/21/17 @ 7:00pm.  Meeting is preceded by a closed Executive Board meeting @ 6:00pm.

With no further comments or questions, a motion to adjourn was made by Mrs. Collier and seconded by Mrs. Wolf.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:31pm.
