Moon Area Band Parent Organization Meeting  
March 17, 2016

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.    
 
The minutes from the February 2016 meeting have been posted. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Mrs. Stathers and seconded by Mrs. Tessmer.   
 
Treasurer’s Report, Joe DeNardo  
The Treasurer’s Report was submitted by Joe DeNardo. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report was made by Mrs. Schmitz and seconded by Mrs. Daugherty.
 
President’s Comments, Sherri VonStein  
The Nominations Committee has been formed including Cindy Diehl, Christianne Gribben, Cindy Stathers, and Jamie Zelazny. However, Christianne Gribben had removed herself from this committee because she is running for a position. Members of this committee accept and track nominations. Tonight we will be accepting nominations. Motion to open nominations for the 2016-17 MABPO Executive Board was made by Mrs. Hricz. No nominations were received from the floor. Motion to close the nominations was made by Mrs. Schmitz and seconded by Mrs. Cap. Nominations Committee chair, Mrs. Diehl presented the names of the nominated candidates on the ballot. The proposed ballot to be voted on at the April meeting is as follows: President – Sherri Von Stein, Treasurer – Joe Denardo, Secretary – Laura Wall, VP Communications – Laurie Carriher, VP Concessions – Jenn Daugherty, VP Corporate Partnerships – Christianne and Andy Gribben, VP Fundraising – Georganna Palmer, VP Publicity – Grace Cap. Reminder: In order to be eligible to vote, you must be a paid member as of December.   
 
Scholarship Committee – The committee members are as follows: Jamie Zelazny, Cindy Stathers, Jenn Daugherty, Sherri Von Stein. This committee receives applications and awards the two scholarships from the MABPO to graduating members of the band/orchestra. All graduating Seniors in the instrumental program are eligible to apply. Information was emailed to Senior parents of band/orchestra students. Please encourage your student to apply. The link to application materials can be found on the website. Two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded at the banquet in May.   
 
Memory Book Committee – We need help putting together the memory books that are given to each Senior at the banquet in May. Each book is personalized to the individual Senior. We will need someone to take over this project next year. We currently need baby pictures and/or pictures from the toddler/little kid years. Please submit your pictures via email to memorybooks@moonband.org. If you are unable to scan pictures to email please email the committee to make arrangements. Volunteers include: Camille Connors, Angela Cross, Leslie Davis, Erica Williams, Julie Bookser, Grace Cap, Cindy Stathers, Cindy Diehl, and Georgianna Palmer.   
 
Website
The new website is almost ready to go live. Some fine tuning is being done prior to the launch.   
 
TRWEA Championship – Advance tickets are available. See Mrs. Von Stein. At the door tickets are $13, students/seniors $11, floor crew $8 admission.  
 
Job Shadowing – Please consider job shadowing an Executive Board member.

Committee Reports    
 
Concessions, Jen Daugherty 
Two new stainless steel coffee urns were purchased for MABPO use. Mrs. Daugherty announced that the Premier Pan sale is happening on April 16. She is planning to buy new trays for the concession stand at this sale. The sale is open to the public.   
 
Secretary, Laura Wall

Treasurer, Joe DeNardo

Communications, Nancy Kerr  
Nothing to report.
 
Fundraising, Vikki Tuk/Cindy Diehl 
Sarris candy delivery was last week. Pittsburgh Popcorn delivery is scheduled for 3/31 5-6pm in the Cafeteria. Spring Fling Basket tickets are due before 7pm on 3/31. We need volunteers to purchase gift cards to add to the basket. Chestnut Hill Candle sale starts 3/28/16. Delivery is planned for May 5. Spaghetti Dinner is set for April 17. Volunteers are needed to work the event and also to donate desserts and supplies.   
 
Publicity, Grace Cap 
The electronic version of the Spaghetti Dinner flyer will be on the website soon. Please look for it and then print and share as many places as possible.   
 
VP Corporate Partnership, Jared Tuk 
We are now an official 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
 
Band Director’s Comments, Mr. Nick Barthen 
Winterguard Championships are this week on Saturday at Cal U.   
 
Florida – We had a successful trip.   
 
MIOSM – Thanks to all who helped distribute tickets. Performances were great.   
 
April – 4/25 Small ensemble concert, 4/29 Symphonic/Orchestra Adjudication 
May – 5/2 Concert band and Symphonic Band concert, 5/19 – Honors Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra concert   
 
Memorial Day Parades – We have two parades this year. The Sewickley parade is in the morning and the Coraopolis parade is in the afternoon.   
BOA Regional – Pittsburgh – September 17   
 
Banquet is set for May 15 at the Fez, 5pm-10pm.   
 
Summer Band schedule is on Edline. We will be taking off the weeks of July 5 and July 12. Mini camps will start after the break. Away camp at W&J is scheduled for July 31-Aug 5. 
 
The Kennywood parade is scheduled for August 9. 
 
Our first PIMBA show will be September 10.   
 
Other important Fall dates: Homecoming 9/23, Senior Rec Night 10/14.     
 
Strings Director Comments, Mrs. Megan Martz 
Nothing. 
 
Next meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2016 @ 7PM. Meeting is preceded by a closed Executive Board meeting @ 6PM. 
 
With no further comments or questions, a motion to adjourn was made by Mr. Denardo and seconded by Mrs. Diehl.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.
