Moon Area Band Parent Organization Meeting

April 25, 2019

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Band Director, Mr. Nick Barthen

Spring concerts are coming up, keep updated via website, newsletter or skyward.

Concert Dates:

  • Percussion, May 6th @7pm
  • Jazz Band, May 10th @ 7pm
  • Concert and Symphonic Band, May 13th @ 7pm
  • Orchestra, May 23rd @ 7pm

For the Love of Music concert by the B Taylor Family Band will be featuring Rock N Roll music. Do not miss this show, it’s going to be great.

April 27th @ 7pm

$20 per ticket

Jazz band will play a set in the hall before the concert. Select choir, orchestra and band members will be playing with the B Taylor Family Band as well.

Proceeds benefit the music department.

We will be marching in the Coraopolis Memorial Day parade this year. The parade starts at 1:30, report time will be earlier, look for time to be set in the newsletter, skyward or website. There will be more security there, especially around the bar areas of the route.

Our incoming freshmen numbers look good.

The summer schedule is out.

  • June 13th Cedar Point (no price set yet)
  • Off for 5 weeks

  • July 29- August 2 Home Band Camp
  • August 4-9 Away Band Camp
  • August 12th begins 2 a week rehearsals

Color Guard will be hosting an Ice Cream Social for perspective guard members Wednesday, May 8th. Try outs are the following week.

Prospective Field Commander meeting for those interesting in auditing is May 14th. Auditions are at the end of May, you need to have been in the band for 2 years.

We have been approved to go to VA Beach in 2020 for our trip. We will be visiting the Chrysler Auditorium in Norfolk VA and Bush Gardens.

Vicki was unable to attend due to a family emergency. No treasurer’s report given.

We have umbrellas for sale.

Our mattress sale fundraiser is May 5th, 11am-5pm. Please get the word out. Sign-up sheet for the students to work the sale will be posted. There will be no moving mattresses, just work the entrances and get people in the door. We also have a few mattress mascot costumes for fun. There will be a few 8th grade spot available and they will be partnered with an upperclassmen. Use the flyers for referrals or give the student name at the time of purchase. There will be many styles and sizes to choose from, financing is available, and they are up to 50% off of the store prices. This is a great opportunity to make money for your student account and for the band.

Banquet RSVP’s are due Friday, April 26th. Everything is all set and ready to go. It’s going to be a great time and we hope to see everyone there.

Popcorn orders are due Tuesday. Hoagies sale starts after that.

Grace was not able to attend the meeting, nothing to report.

Georganna was out ill. Andrea covered fundraising for her this evening.

June 2nd Alumni event at the Cobblehause in Cory 5:30pm-7:30pm. Beer sampling, pizza and salad. Ticket prices to be determined. Only 50 tickets available, first come first serve.
